The highly anticipated 10% cashback on Amazon Gift Card purchases, a key USP for this card, has been significantly devalued. Amazon Gift Card transactions are now processed under MCC (Merchant Category Code) for gift card purchases (Merchant name: ASSPL), not as direct Amazon purchases.
Consequently, these transactions will now earn only 1% cashback, a substantial reduction from the previous 10%.
This change impacts the card's value proposition, particularly for those who applied expecting the higher cashback rate on Amazon Gift Cards. Some users received a ₹500 welcome cashback, which may help offset the joining fee.
We recommend making a small Amazon Gift Card purchase (e.g., ₹100) to verify this change firsthand before relying on the previous 10% offer.
It appears that the rapid increase in referrals and usage might have accelerated this devaluation.
