IDFC FIRST Bank has announced significant changes to its First Rewards Program for Debit Cards, effective January 1, 2026. These updates will impact how reward points are accrued on savings accounts and debit card transactions.
Key Changes from January 1, 2026:
- No Welcome Reward Points: Debit card activation or initial transactions will no longer earn welcome points.
- No Reward Points on Spends: Reward points will no longer be accrued on any online or offline debit card spends.
- No Accelerated Reward Points: Accelerated reward points on debit card transactions will be discontinued.
- Changes to Bill Payments:
- Current: 250 reward points per bill, once per month.
- From Jan 2026: 500 points per unique biller, once a month, for a maximum of three months.
These changes reflect a significant devaluation of the IDFC FIRST Bank debit card rewards program. Customers are advised to review their usage patterns accordingly.
Redeeming Existing Reward Points:
All previously earned reward points can still be redeemed at any time via the mobile banking app. The terms for redemption remain unchanged.
